Partnership 28 May 2025

A new scientific project has been launched at the Department of General and Clinical Epidemiology of the I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy, to be implemented from 2025 to 2027. The project is carried out within the framework of an agreement with the University of Zurich to enhance research activities. Its title is “Study of Risk Factors for Complications, Disability, or Premature Mortality from Echinococcosis in the Kyrgyz Republic.”

The project aims at a deep exploration of the key aspects influencing the course of echinococcosis, with the goal of developing preventive strategies and improving the quality of medical care.

On May 21, 2025, the first working meeting of the project participants was held. During the meeting, a detailed action plan for the near future was discussed. Participants outlined the main implementation stages, research methods, and expected outcomes. This meeting was an important step in establishing an effective foundation for scientific collaboration and experience exchange between research teams from the Kyrgyz Republic and Switzerland.

The project promises to make a significant contribution to improving knowledge on the prevention and treatment of echinococcosis, as well as to become a foundation for broader international cooperation in medical science.
